The advantages of taking your phone with you:
1. Easy to keep in touch.
For many of us, there are things at home that we need to keep tabs on or people we need to keep in touch with. Sadly this may mean that we need to be contactable for work, but it could also be due to family matters or other commitments.
2. Useful apps
There are many useful apps that you can put on your smartphone for your holidays, such as travel guides and sat-navs. You do need to be careful of using them too much though due to data roaming charges.
3. Great for emergencies
These days, if there is an accident or other emergency, we are likely to reach for our phone first to contact emergency services. Without it, we will be left trying to find one to summon help.
The advantages of leaving your phone at home
There is nothing better sometimes than being completely incommunicado. Work has to leave your mind because there is nothing you can do about it. The people who have come to rely on you at home have to learn to cope without you for a couple of weeks while you relax and recharge.
2. Family time
A total phone embargo for the whole holiday can be a great way to bond with family members, particularly teenagers who usually suffer from a mobile phone addiction.
3. Hassle free
You won’t have the worry about whether your phone is charged for the plane, or whether you have packed your charger and adapter. You won’t have to worry about it being stolen or about it ringing at an inconvenient time. You can just leave it in a safe place at home and come back to it after your holiday.
